Cross CulturallyWork effectively with
culturally diverse clients and co-workers - CHCCS 405
This DSQ funded project is for people wanting to work more effectively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with disability and their familiesThis training course is designed to give you the cultural awareness you need to communicate and cooperate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
By the end of the training you will be able to:
- Demonstrate respect for culturally diverse people in all your work practices
- Demonstrate effective communication with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
- Use effective strategies to eliminate discrimination and bias in the workplace
- Recognise cultural diversity as a fact of life
- Identify and recognise how your own culture impacts on your practices, beliefs and experiences
The training will be held across Queensland between October 2007 and May 2009 (see dates and details below) and will cover all Disability Services Queensland regions. To download a flier with all the information

DSQ funded have priority access to this training. DSQ are offering a 'Training Assistance Grant' to assist DSQ funded service providers to attend training delivered through the Strengthening Non-Government Organisations Program.
Note: DSQ funded service providers who wish to apply for assistance to cover transport/ accommodation costs should visit the DSQ website. This funding must be applied for before 27 June 2007.
Assessment
mdaa cultural abilities is a registered training organisation and participants can choose to complete the assessments to obtain a Statement of Attainment for CHCCS 405A 'Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers'.All assessments must be completed after the training, within 21 days.
Participants will be sent all the information before the workshop.Learning Pathways
'Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers' is a Compulsory Unit for many Certificates including:
- Certificate III and IV Disability Work
- Certificate IV Service Co-ordination (Aged and Disability Work
- Certificate IV in Community Services Work
