Other support services
As the centre for expertise in cultural diversity and disability, mdaa cultural abilities is uniquely placed to provide your agency with quality, in-depth, knowledge and experience-based services tailored to the needs of your agency and community. In addition to our training we can conduct policy and practice audits and develop access and equity action plans.
Policy and Practice Audits
We conduct policy and practice audits for human service agencies to enhance their capacity to respond competently to the diversity of the community. We use a range of frameworks to inform us of the policy and practice standards including Disability Services Standards, Home and Community Care Standards, Ethnic Affairs Priorities Framework, Mental Health Standards. We use these standards to suit the agency's needs. This service can include policy and practice review audits and can be done either on-site or off-site, depending on the needs of the agency.
Access and Equity Action Plans
These plans are designed to assist an agency by identifying areas for transformation. Access and Equity Action Plans identify actions which an agency can take now to enhance its ability to respond positively and creatively to the diverse community, in terms of both culture and disability.Access and Equity Action Plans include a Policy and Practice audit and take this further by identifying actions which make the polices real and the practices competent, to enable the agency to respond better to people with disability regardless of their cultural background.
Unlike many other planning processes, Action Plans are designed with the agency and succeed not only because the agency owns the plan, but also because the plan involves many actions which are cost neutral.
