mdaa cultural abilities is the training arm of the Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association of NSW (MDAA), the peak advocacy organisation for people from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB) with disability, their families and carers. Training is based on MDAA's experience and knowledge.
We deliver relevant and current training that will greatly assist participants to enhance their capacity to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Our training program meets the needs of the human services sector.
We develop and provide high quality training and resources that respond to current issues, and we contribute to the advancement of cultural and disability competence.
In addition to our calendar and tailor made training, mdaa cultural abilities works with human service agencies to enhance their capacity to respond effectively to community diversity, through our consultancy and support services.
Some of the training available from cultural abilities
Disability Rights Awareness 2 day workshops
A 2 day training workshop for ethnic community workers (Parramatta, Hurstville, Wollongong, Newcastle & Griffith)The aim of the workshops is to enhance understanding of disability in a culturally diverse context and to learn about what legal services and support networks are available in the community. The workshops will cover laws and regulations that you need to consider in your workplace.
Workshop Length: 9.30am - 16.30pm

- Understanding disability in a culturally diverse context

- How, when and where to contact legal services
