Rickter
Scale® can be
used in a wide variety of areas and is a tool that can be
modified. This is done through the Frames of Reference
Headings that are developed together by the Rickter Company
and your own organization to reflect your specific needs and
your way of working.
The
Frames of Reference Headings are developed:
- to be measurable
- to apply to all clients
using the particular Frame of Reference
- to be significant to the
client
- to lead to sub-issues
- to be relevant to the
organisation's purpose
The
Criteria for Frames of Reference Questions:
- questions will be as
open-ended as possible
- questions will use
simple and unambiguous language
- a similar format will be
used for each question within the Frame of Reference
- questions will apply to
all members of the client group
- questions will relate to
one issue at a time as part of the overall theme of the
board, eg., the ultimate aim of getting a job, and will
have relevance in achieving that aim
- questions will
intentionally ask for a subjective response from the
client, and consequently there are no right or wrong
answers
- it is assumed that any
measure of 'distance travelled' will compare a client's
perceptions before and after a period of
support/intervention i.e., headings are therefore likely
to prove measurable over a period of time.
Some
of the areas in which the board has been used in are:
