More Norwegians on disability allowance

NRK, Rolleiv Solholm

More than 10 per cent of the working population in Norway now receive disability allowance. This is shown by fresh figures from the National Security Services (TE).

The number of recipients of disability benefits has increased by 3 per cent since last year. The figures show that a total of 300,000 persons now receive disbility allowance, according to NRK.

-It is dramatic that so many are excluded from the workforce because of failing health, says TE Deputy Director Ola Heen Stroemmen.

-We have managed to enable 3000 persons to get back to the workforce over the past two years, and we work systematically at enabling more of the disabled to get back to work, Heen Stroemmen says
